According to a report from Deadline, Netflix has signed some important movies and Netflix exclusive series in the last week, along with a freshly acquired Gothic horror-thriller called The Pale Blue Eye, which will feature Christian Bale. As per the source, Netflix spent a staggering $55 million for this contract, setting a new benchmark for worldwide purchase at the European Film Market. According to Deadline, Scott Cooper will helm the film, which will be Cooper and Bale’s first collaboration. Cooper directed the 2017 film Hostiles, which stars Bale as Capt. Joseph Blacker, a US Army cavalry officer.

Release date of The Pale Blue Eye

The Pale Blue Eye should begin production as soon as his two current projects end in the fall of 2021. This means that, at the very least, we’ll see this picture in late 2022. It’s possible that this film will not be available on Netflix for a longer period of time.

Who makes an appearance in the  Pale Blue Eye?

Harry Melling briefly appeared as Anya Taylor-enemy Joy’s became an ally, Harry Beltik, in Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit, and is best known for playing Dudley Dursley, Harry Potter’s cousin in the wizarding saga. Now, he’ll be seen in The Pale Blue Eye alongside Christian Bale and filmmaker Scott Cooper, signifying their third association after the thriller Out of the Furnace and the western Hostiles. Lucy Boynton, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Toby Jones, Harry Lawtey, Simon McBurney, and Hadley Robinson join an ensemble cast that includes Gillian Anderson, Robert Duvall, and Timothy Spall. Cooper, John Lesher, and Tyler Thompson of Cross Creek Pictures will join Bale in producing the picture.

WHERE DOES THE PALE BLUE EYE GET ITS STORY?

The Pale Blue Eye is based on Louis Bayard’s 2006 novel of the same name, which promises a twisted, turny Gothic mystery in its summary.

It reads, “So starts the disturbing final testament of Gus Landor, a former New York City police constable whose many abilities include code-breaking, riot control, and ‘ungloved questioning.'”

“A young student was discovered hanging at a military institution on the Hudson River’s beaches. Unfortunately, his corpse was seized and his heart was cruelly hacked out before he could be inferred. Anticipating a controversy, West Point’s senior brass has invited Landor to assist in catching the criminal and keeping his findings hidden from prying eyes. Landor discovers a succession of dark truths as he goes on a spectacular expedition to solve the case, and he receives unusual aid in the form of a cheeky young cadet called Edgar Allan Poe.”

Conclusion

Cooper has been attempting to get the picture completed for more than a decade, and it is his passion project. With actors like Bale and Melling on board, we’re confident that the anticipation for the film’s premiere will only rise in the coming months.
