Covid-19 cases surge in parts of the world, warning for India

A high-level meeting was summoned on Wednesday by the Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya to track preparedness and the level of Indian alertness because several Asian countries reported another surge in the case of Covid-19. India has just begun to revive itself from the third wave of omicron led pandemic. The center recently announced plans to continue international flights from March 27 after a two-year gap.

Covid surge in Asia

Countries including China, Hong Kong, Singapore and South Korea recently reported a surge in Coronavirus infection. While the Covid Chinese outbreak seems to slow down this week, the new Covid-19 South Korean daily infection reached a record 621,328.

Emergence of Covid-19 variant BA.2

While Delta and Omicron continue to dominate the wave of Asia Covid-19, a new variant related – BA.2 – is setting the stage for the rise of a risk of pandemic in Europe. Regarded as a transmission strain that is faster than the omicron variant, the virus has spread rapidly in Germany and Austria.
